Report: Biden’s ICE nominee worked with BLM activist to push lie that a white man killed a black child

WASHINGTON, D.C.- According to a report from the Washington Free Beacon, the Texas sheriff that has been nominated by the Biden administration to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) allegedly pushed a false claim that a white man murdered a sever-year-old black girl from Houston.

Ed Gonzalez, the Harris County sheriff reportedly proceeded to push the claim even though he received a tip that the actual murders were black. Gonzalez also worked closely with Black Lives Matter (BLM) activist Shaun King to identify Jazmine Barnes’ killer.

Gonzalez took it upon himself to amplify the family’s claim that the gunman was white even after receiving a tip that the killer was black. An attorney for the man King falsely identified as Barnes’ killer stated that King’s allegation might have contributed to his client’s suicide.

The Beacon also reported that King is a controversial figure who has already come under fire for making false allegations in racially charged incidents.

This year, Gonzalez has proposed releasing 1,500 county jail inmates, hundreds of whom faced charges for violent crimes. That combined with his order to scale back cooperation with the federal government on deportations early in the Trump administration, will likely cause him to be more scrutinized by Republicans.

In the incident where Gonzalez pushed the false claim and narrative that a white man murdered a young black girl in the back seat of her mother’s car on December 30, 2018, Gonzalez tweeted on the day of the shooting that the Barnes family described the gunman as a white male in his 40s.

On January 3, 2019, Gonzalez released a police sketch of a suspect matching that exact description. However, a timeline of the investigation shows that King received a tip that later that day that Barnes’ killers were black.

King allegedly said that he shared the tip “immediately” with Gonzalez and that neither of them could make sense of it. But, Gonzalez, who has been sheriff of Harris County since 2017, told a reporter that King shared the tip that eventually led to the arrest of the real killers, Eric Black Jr. and Larry Woodruffe, with him “midweek.”

Gonzalez continued to circulate the incorrect police sketch on social media for two additional days after receiving the tip. The Barnes murder was all over every news outlet across the country after Gonzalez, King, and others trumpeted the girl’s mother’s belief that the shooting was racially motivated.

Attorney Lee Merritt, who represented Barnes’ family, leveled a hate crime allegation during a January 3, 2019 press conference that he held with Gonzalez. Merritt said in a statement:

“We believe it was racially motivated in part because our nation at this moment is a highly racially charged society. We’ve seen a rise in hate crime.”

During that press conference, Gonzalez reportedly stopped short of saying the shooting was a hate crime, though he did say it could “potentially be race related.” Both King and Gonzalez pushed the false narrative of a white killer even after each of them acknowledged receiving a tip that led to the arrest of two black men.

Black and Woodruffe were arrested on January 6, 2019 and charged with capital murder. In a now-deleted January 4, 2019 tweet, King falsely identified Robert Cantrell as the potential suspect in the shooting. He said that Cantrell had been arrested on unrelated charges hours after Barnes was killed.

King even posted a mug shot of Cantrell from that arrest and said that the man was known to be “violent” and “racist.” As soon as the police sketch was released, Cantrell started receiving death threats. He hanged himself in July 2019 in a Houston-area jail where he was being held on theft charges. Attorney E. Tay Bond said:

“I think that this significantly contributed to my client’s diminished mental state knowing he was in jail and could not protect his family.”

During a press conference on January 6, 2019, the same day the real killers were arrested, Gonzalez praised King even though the activist had misidentified Cantrell as the killer. Gonzalez said:

“I want to thank, again, Shaun King for his activism and help and raising awareness and the monies that were put forward.”

While Gonzalez never identified Cantrell by name as a suspect, he also never corrected King’s false allegations.

To nobody’s surprise, Biden choice to head ICE once proposed cutting 1,500 inmates loose, including violent felons

May 10th, 2021

HARRIS COUNTY, TX- Typical Biden. Put somebody in charge of something who has absolutely no interest in fulfilling the mission of that agency. The latest example is his nominee to lead the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE).

Biden has nominated Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez for the post at a time when the agency has been basically emasculated by Biden’s sanctuary country policies.

Gonzalez’s claim to fame is his brilliant proposal to release over 1,500 inmates this year, including those charged with violent crimes, as well as illegal aliens. But hey, that’s right in Biden’s wheelhouse.

Unless you’ve been asleep since the day Biden was inaugurated, everyone knows that the border is in complete and utter chaos.

Biden’s directives whereby he’s been running the country like more of a Marxist dictator than a duly elected (?) president have led to ICE being prevented from arresting and deporting illegal aliens; with the only caveat being “recently convicted” aggravated felons, terrorists or known gang members.

The focus being on “recently convicted.”

So, if someone was arrested for a violent felony, if they have not yet been adjudicated, they are cut loose into the United States to commit another violent felony. Once they are arrested, they are then once again cut loose into the country to offend again…your basic revolving door.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Gonzalez in January had sought to release over 1,500 inmates from the Harris County Jail, of which over 74 percent were either charged with violent crimes, were illegal aliens with ICE detainers, or had extradition orders on them.

Sounds like the perfect guy for a Biden administration post.

So extreme was Gonzalez’s request that even far-left, George Soros-funded county district attorney Kim Ogg (D) refused to grant the request and lowered the number to only 60 inmates.

Reporting for the Free Beacon, Alana Goodman reported:

“’Of the 1,543 defendants on the list sent to the district attorney by the Harris County sheriff, 1,148 defendants have an external hold, or their pending case is violent,’ wrote Ogg. ‘The district attorney objects to lowering the bail for any of these individuals’ cases.” [Emphasis added]

“Ogg added that the remaining 395 inmates on the release list ‘collectively have 823 pending cases [against them], many of which have a bond greater than $10,000. Many of these multiple arrestees were on bond when arrested for new offenses.’” [Emphasis added]

“According to Ogg, the sheriff’s office had omitted significant concerning details about many of the inmates.

One of the prisoners on the list, who was charged with misdemeanor assault of a family member, was also facing probation violation and deferred felony charges for residential burglary and had waived bail hearings.

The sheriff neglected to note that another inmate on the list, who had been indicted for felony theft, had previously been released on a reduced bond in an ongoing felony forgery case and was facing deportation when he was re-arrested.

Another prisoner, charged with violent misdemeanor terroristic threat, had previously been released on bond, but had it rescinded twice for failing to comply with electronic monitoring. [Emphasis added]

Another notch in the belt for a position in the Biden administration came when in 2017, as reported in Breitbart, Gonzalez ended Harris County’s 287(g) agreement with ICE—a program that allows local law enforcement to “seamlessly” turn over criminal illegal aliens to ICE agents.

However, that decision didn’t impact the county’s cooperation with ICE. Gonzalez told Breitbart at the time that they would continue to comply with ICE when agents requested criminal illegal aliens to be turned over to the feds, and they also facilitated housing an ICE agent inside the local jail in order to help expedite such transfers.

Despite cooperating with ICE, Gonzalez lobbied Texas state lawmakers, as well as Republican Gov. Greg Abbott to veto a ban on sanctuary cities in April, 2017, while sharply criticizing the law after Abbott signed the bill in May 2017.

Gonzalez has also been a vocal opponent to so-called worksite enforcement raids conducted by ICE, writing in 2019 that he did “not support [ICE raids] that threaten to deport millions of undocumented immigrants, the vast majority of whom do not represent a threat to the U.S.”

Gonzalez is apparently not interested in doing what he’s supposed to do…enforce the law…ALL of them.

For more on our porous southern border, we invite you to:

WASHINGTON, D.C.- On Monday, April 26th, the National Border Patrol Council president stated that President Joe Biden has done more to enhance organized crime and place women and children in harm’s way at the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), southwest border encounters surged from 101,028 in February 2021 to 172,331 in March 2021. In January, the total encounters were 78, 444 and even less at the end of 2020.

In a recent appearance on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, stated:

“Nobody has done more to enrich organized crime than President Biden.”

Judd added:

“When you look at the first 100 days of this administration as evidence by the numbers, nobody has done worse on border security than President Biden. Nobody has put women and children under more danger than President Biden has.”

Judd stated that the president is “clearly failing” over the border crisis and that Biden not visiting the location indicates that he does not know how to begin fixing the massive problem.

Judd also added that it is unacceptable for Vice President Kamala Harris to visit Central America in June and not any sooner.

He reiterated that Harris “refused to do her job” and that he hopes Americans realize how poorly the administration is failing in its border policies. Judd said:

“Again, it’s easy to blame COVID when it’s convenient, but when you don’t have answers, when you don’t have solutions, all you do is put it back on COVID and say well I can’t do this because COVID’s not allowing me to.”

He added:

“But, she (Harris) can travel across the world, across the United States, but for something that is so important to the American public as border security, she refused to do her job.”

On Sunday, April 25th, Harris reportedly dismissed questions over a “potential visit” to the souther border, saying to a reporter she is “not going to play political games.” A reporter with WMUR, a local ABC affiliate in New Hampshire, asked Harris:

“Republicans are attacking you, saying you shouldn’t be in New Hampshire talking about infrastructure, you should be at the southern border talking about immigration. How do you respond to that?”

To which Harris responded by saying:

“I’m not going to play political games.”

According to Fox News, the vice president’s office said in a statement that Harris, Mexican President Andres Manual Lopez Obrador and two officials are going to meet virtually on May 7th. The statement said, in part:

“This meeting will deepen the partnership between our countries to achieve the common goals of prosperity, good governance, and addressing the root causes of migration.”

Judd said Harris can protect herself in many ways from the coronavirus and pointed out that former President Donald Trump visited the border several times. Judd added that himself and other agents are not partisan and that the Trump administration simply managed the border more effectively.

He said that the United States is facing a surge in illegal crossings and drug trafficking because the current administration reversed the former president’s border actions. Judd said that reinstating the “migration protection protocols” will stop the ongoing issue at the border. He said:

“This is something that we have never seen before. Almost 24 years in the Border Patrol going out and patrolling the border I have never seen anything like this before.”

Judd added:

“President Trump proved how long it would take. It was like a light switch. Bring back the migrant protection protocols and this will end.”

The Biden administration continues to deny the crisis at the border and instead emphasizes factors like poverty and climate in Central America. At a recent roundtable, Harris said:

“We are looking at extensive storm damage because of extreme climate, we’re looking at drought in an area in a region where agriculture is one of the most traditionally important basis for their economy, we’re looking at what’s happening in terms of food scarcity as a result of that and in fact, incredible food insecurity, which we used to call hunger food insecurity.”

Harris herself has still not yet been to the border, but images have emerged showing copies of her children’s book being distributed to unaccompanied children in a migrant shelter in California.
