Former President Donald Trump has been out of office for nearly three months yet radical-left Democrats are still trying to take him down.
Since leaving office, New York District Attorney Cyrus Vance has launched an investigation into Trump over his taxes and has hired ex-FBI forensic accountant Morgan Magionos to help out. Magionos was a member of Robert Mueller’s investigation into President Trump over “Russian collusion” where no evidence of wrongdoing by the former president was found.
Check out what the Washington Examiner reported:
Morgan Magionos, an ex-FBI forensic accountant, is part of a group of outside experts from FTI Consulting aiding the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation into the dealings of former President Donald Trump and his company, CNN reported on Thursday. Investigators are looking for possible bank, tax, or insurance fraud.
A former member of the bureau’s international corruption unit, Magianos played an instrumental role in the prosecution of 2016 Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, who was later pardoned by Trump. She left the FBI in 2019 to join FTI Consulting, a business-advising firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., which was hired by BuzzFeed to verify parts of British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s discredited anti-Trump dossier.
“As a matter of policy, we do not comment on, confirm or deny reports of client engagements or potential engagements,” Matthew Bashalany, managing director for media relations and communications at FTI Consulting, told the Washington Examiner when asked for comment on the report.
Similarly to how he reacted to Mueller’s inquiry, Trump has dubbed Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance’s investigation a “witch hunt,” and after the Supreme Court rejected his effort to keep his tax records from New York prosecutors in February, the former president insisted, “We will win!”
While radical-left Democrats continue to seek for blood, Trump is fighting back. Earlier this week, Trump’s lawyers asked a federal judge for a judgment against the House Oversight Committee’s suit against him.
“The Mazars subpoena remains a demand for the president’s information, based on president-specific justifications, subject to president-specific defenses,” the lawyers wrote. “The committee’s justifications concerning the Trump Presidency cratered once he stopped being president, but the separation-of-powers concerns with these sorts of subpoenas did not.”
Raw Story reports: “Although the House Oversight Committee has so far been unsuccessful in prying Trump’s taxes from Mazars, the firm has handed over tax documents to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, which is conducting a wide-ranging probe into potential tax fraud by the former president.”
