Congressionally ‘Deplatformed’ Marjorie Taylor Greene Rakes in Millions in Fundraising Bonanza

Majority House Democrats may have ‘deplatformed’ freshman GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia by removing her from all committee assignments, but they’ve managed to help her raise a ton of campaign cash.

Taylor Greene hauled in more than $3.2 million during the first quarter of this year as money poured in from all 50 states, according to a campaign announcement on Wednesday. Officials added that the average donation was $32.

Fox News put the take in perspective:

Raising $3.2 million in three months is a huge sum for any politician, especially a freshman.

In comparison, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D-N.Y., netted just over $726,000 in her first three months in Congress in 2019. That means Greene raised four times the amount of the most high-profile Democratic freshman in their comparable first quarter in office.

The fiery Georgia Republican took to social media to thank her supporters.

“I am humbled, overjoyed, and so excited to announce what happened over the past few months as I have been the most attacked freshman member of Congress in history,” Greene tweeted Wednesday.

She went on to say that the amount of donations she’s taken in shows that Americans are standing up to the “political ruling class.”

“I am one of the people and the people are with me, and I will always be with them,” Greene tweeted. “WE are just getting started! In the words of my favorite President Trump, ‘the best is yet to come.’”

Fox News noted further that Greene became a lightning rod of controversy shortly after entering Congress based mostly on past social media posts in which she appeared to tout conspiracy theories including QAnon as well as liking posts promoting violence against some Democrats.

Because of them, the Democrat-controlled House voted to expel her from all committee assignments. But that vote to de-emphasize Greene has actually empowered her more, obviously.

It’s not like she needs a massive war chest for her next campaign. She represents a deep-red district and won with more than 70 percent of the vote last year. But she may be able to use the windfall to help other Republicans win in less-certain districts.

Despite being taken off committees, Greene has nevertheless remained active in Congress. She blasted Sen. Mitt “RINO” Romney of Utah in February following a phone call with former President Donald Trump, who is a fan of hers.

“I had a GREAT call with my all time favorite POTUS, President Trump!” Greene tweeted. “I’m so grateful for his support and more importantly the people of this country are absolutely 100% loyal to him because he is 100% loyal to the people and America First.”

Romney responded, “Lies of a feather flock together: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s nonsense and the ‘big lie’ of a stolen election.”

Greene couldn’t let that go, replying, “’Republican’ Senator Mitt Romney obviously cares nothing about the people’s number one concern,” she tweeted. “Please grow a pair or a spine.”

She’s also taken on Ocasio-Cortez. After the New York Democratic socialist claimed in an Instagram video that using the word “surge” to describe the current migrant border crisis is just another form of “white supremacy,” Taylor Greene responded:

AOC is lying and being a racist blaming ‘white supremacist.’ If she cared about children of all races, then she would be down at the border crying about the very real surge of children being trafficked in our country and stuffed in ‘cages’ due to the policies she loves.
