Big Business: Traffickers Bringing Illegals Across the Border Earning Millions of Dollars a Day.

According to report by Fox News, trafficking people across the border has become a very profitable business. Just in February, traffickers made as much as 14 million dollars a day by moving men, women, and children across the US-Mexico border.

Former Tucson Border Patrol Chief, Roy Villareal, told Fox News that “trafficking is a multi-billion-dollar industry.”

The recently retired Patrol Chief who spent 30 years with the agency said that a lot of these vulnerable people use they “life savings” to pay the traffickers to get them across the border.

“Some are essentially indentured servants and they’re working off this debt for a long period of time. In other cases, some of these migrants are asked to transport narcotics or some form of crime to work off a different part of their debt,” he said.

Customs and Border Patrol estimated the smuggling fee revenues traffickers made was a staggering $411.5 million in the month of February alone; which was made through moving people from Mexico and Central American Countries to the US Border. That is an average of 14.7 million dollars per day.

At the moment, the costs of the Border crisis is rising daily for the US government. The cost to US taxpayers now tops five million dollars a day. The number is based on 2019 figures provided by Health and Human Services, which put the daily “influx” shelter cost at 800 dollars per illegal alien.

More from Fox:

“Additional costs will include overtime and hotel costs for the hundreds of agents reassigned to Texas from other areas. For context, in 2019 Congress appropriated an extra $4.6 billion to handle a similar migrant surge. In 2014, Congress gave President Obama an extra $2.7 billion to deal with his border crisis.”

The current US administration seems to be doing absolutely nothing to disincentivize this type of criminality. In fact, they are incentivizing it. On Sunday, the Biden administration awarded 86.9 million dollars to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) to house illegal aliens in hotels near the US-Mexico border.

According to Fox Business, the families will receive a comprehensive health assessment, including COVID-19 testing.

Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said last Tuesday that the surge of foreigners at the Southern Border is the worst it has been in the last 20 years despite the media’s and his reluctance to call it a crisis.

In what seemed like an attempt to frame it the situation of accompanied children in a positive way, Mayorkas stated that “In more than 80 percent of cases, the child has a family member in the United States. In more than 40 percent of cases, that family member is a parent or legal guardian. These are children being reunited with their families who will care for them.”

He added that the migrants will always have families south of the border, which means the influx will never end, and the US may be long term become one of the countries they fled from in the first place.

Mayorkas said in a statement that “we are on pace to encounter more individuals on the southwest border than we have in the last 20 years.”
