IA: Constitutional Carry Bills May Soon get a Floor Vote! | GOA

Recently, the House Public Safety Committee passed HSB 254 and the Senate Judiciary Committee passed SF 535two bills that would make Iowa a Constitutional Carry state. This means the bills will now go to the full chambers for a vote.

Under House Study Bill 254 and Senate File 535, an adult Iowan will be able to conceal carry without having to beg the government for a permit.  This is particularly important at a time when government closures around the nation are dragging out the permit process — thereby endangering the lives of applicants in threatening situations.

Eighteen other states currently recognize that Americans have the right to carry a gun for self-defense without first getting the government’s permission to exercise their constitutional rights.  These states, not coincidentally, are among the safest in the country.

It’s well past time that Iowa joined these states and repealed the unreasonable and unconstitutional limits on Iowans‘ exercise of their Second Amendment rights.

Please urge your state Representative and Senator to support Constitutional Carry ASAP.
