Former President Donald Trump lost $2 billion – close to half his wealth – during his stay in the White House, according to reports.
Trump, the first billionaire to become president, was #121 on Forbes’s list of wealthiest Americans when he entered office.
Today, his rank is #339.
“Trump left office with a net worth of about $2.5 billion, down from $4.5 billion when he announced his candidacy for president in 2015,” reported Washington Examiner Thursday.
The enormous hit to his fortune shows Trump entered politics to improve life for everyday Americans rather than bolstering his own wealth.
Remember, Trump donated all his annual salary of $400,000 each quarter to various causes like the Office of the Surgeon General, the Department of Homeland Security, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse, and more recently, the National Park Service to “repair and restore” national monuments.
“I promised YOU I would not take a dime of salary as your President. I donate the entire $400,000!” wrote Trump in a now-deleted tweet. “It is my honor to give $100,000 to @NatlParkService to help repair and restore our GREAT National Monuments.
“So important to our American History! Thank You!!”
The swamp hated Trump because he favored his base and everyday Americans over establishment politicians and D.C. institutions.
