While some of us needed time to get our bearings on Wendnesday’s Capitol riot, Tucker Carlson delivered a monologue that is required viewing. Unlike what some people with a platform have to say, this is important. And something ALL OF US, Republican and Democrat, liberal and conservative, need to pray on and think about.
Tucker: Our only option is to fix what’s causing this
When thousands of your countrymen storm the Capitol building, you don’t have to like it. We don’t. You can be horrified by the violence, and as we said and will say it again, we are horrified. It’s wrong. But if you don’t bother to pause and learn a single thing from it, from your citizens storming your Capitol building? Then you’re a fool. You lack wisdom and you lack self-awareness. You have no place running a country. We got to this sad chaotic day for a reason. It is not your fault; it is their fault.
I see the word “whataboutism” used on Twitter a lot. What Tucker is saying ain’t that. It’s not whataboutism to question how we got to this point. It’s not whataboutism to try to understand how we got to this point. It’s what anyone who is not half a moron needs to do to make sure this doesn’t happen again. To prevent us from going down an even worse path.
Tucker is concerned, as most Americans are concerned. We have a lot of difficult questions to ask, and we all need to be ready to listen to difficult answers.
