Twitter, Other Social Media Companies Say They Will Remove Posts Wishing President Trump Dies From the Chinese Virus

The social media platform Twitter has made a statement saying it will suspend users who tweet out that they hope for President Donald Trump’s death following his positive Chinese virus diagnosis.

Twitter told Motherboard it may dole out the suspensions under an “abusive behavior” rule that was added back in April.

“Content that wishes, hopes or expresses a desire for death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against an individual is against our rules,” Twitter said in a statement to Motherboard.  So, just to be clear, Twitter isn’t showing respect for the Office of the President, they’re just saying there’s a policy against expressing a desire for death.

The anti-abuse policy notably bans tweets hoping that someone dies as a result of a serious disease.

It’s a little ambiguous at how often the rule will most likely be enforced, after many sleazy users have already taken to Twitter to send ill wishes to the president since his and First Lady Melania’s positive tests were announced Friday morning.  It’s also unclear if they will only enforce it against conservatives, even though in this case conservatives aren’t the ones hoping our president dies.  This is the world in which we live now.

Twitter told Motherboard it “won’t take enforcement action on every Tweet.”  Of course not.  Twitter has become a haven for hateful leftists who post the most vile things against Trump, and I suppose they have to let some of the animals have their feeding frenzy.

“We’re prioritizing the removal of content when it has a clear call to action that could potentially cause real-world harm,” Twitter added.  I guess that means if wishing our president dies from the Chinese virus is just fine so long as the death wishes don’t include others?  Don’t forget that Twitter declared war on Trump and his administration not that long ago where they label his tweets with warnings of misleading content, which more often than not turns out to be content that the Left simply doesn’t like.

Friday night, Trump, 74, for precautionary reasons, went to Walter Reed military hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, after he was given experimental “polyclonal antibodies.”

He had been experiencing fatigue, according to his physician, who has not confirmed reports that he was also suffering from a fever.  Fake News reported he had shortness of breath, which was a total lie.

“I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support,” Trump said in a video message right before he flew by helicopter to Walter Reed.

“I’m going to Walter Reed hospital,” he added. “I think I’m doing very well, but we’re going to make sure that things work out.”

On a personal note, I absolutely despised President Barack Obama because of the things he was trying to do to our country.  He himself said he was aiming to “fundamentally transform” our country, and it wasn’t to make it great again.  Yet, when he was president, had he walked into a room I would have stood, not out of respect for the man, but for the Office of the President.  That’s something the Left doesn’t understand.  Trump can be crude when he responds to crudeness, he can he harsh when he responds to unfair criticisms, but let’s be honest, this president has had more unfair garbage thrown at him than any other past president in our history, but wishing death upon him exposes a character flaw in the one making the statement rather that the president himself.

According to NPR, Facebook and TikTok have additionally stated that wishing the president dies isn’t allowed.  Apparently there is a line.  All three tech companies confirmed that such posts will be removed for violating each particular platform’s content policies.

While the tech giants fight to remove posts that wish our president dies, many conspiracy theories and outright lies have grown in content numbers, which is making it harder for the social media companies to keep up, forcing them to prioritize the hate.  But on wishing Trump dies, they have all together fallen in line.

A Facebook spokesperson said posts wishing Trump’s death, together with comments on the president’s pages, and posts that tag him in them, shall be taken down from the social network.

A spokesperson for TikTok said that cheering for President Trump’s death would be in violation of the video app’s community guidelines, saying content wishing for Trump’s death “would be a violation of our community guidelines and removed if we find that.”

A federal law, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, allows tech companies to set their own rules for what is and is not allowed to be posted to their platforms.

Hateful posts about Trump taken down is great, but it’s still not equal to what conservatives have had to put up with from the social media platforms over the years where they get suspended for posting truth that is gas-lighted as “misleading.”
