Cal Cunningham, the Democrat candidate for North Carolina Senate that is considered a favorite in a close race, is now embroiled in a humiliating cheating scandal.
NationalFile revealed Cunningham’s sext messages with Arlene Guzman Todd, a Veteran’s wife. Cunningham himself is married with 2 children.
You can see in the text messages below Cunningham’s texts are in the grey.
Cunningham calls Guzman Todd “historically sexy” and says “I’ve had the most amazing dreams of our time together and am thinking of you too!” suggesting an affair.
Democrat Cunningham then says to Guzman Todd it “would make my day to roll over and kiss you now.”
Guzman Todd says to Cunningham “the only thing I want on my to do list is you” and the North Carolina Democrat replied that “sounds so hot and so fun!”
Cunningham has admitted the messages but says he won’t drop out.
In a statement to the News & Observer the North Carolina Democrat said “I have hurt my family, disappointed my friends, and am deeply sorry. The first step in repairing those relationships is taking complete responsibility, which I do. I ask that my family’s privacy be respected in this personal matter. I remain grateful and humbled by the ongoing support that North Carolinians have extended in this campaign, and in the remaining weeks before this election I will continue to work to earn the opportunity to fight for the people of our state.”
Cunningham leads polling against Republican Thom Tillis in this Key Senate race that could determine control of the Senate.
In the current RCP average, Cunningham has a 6 point leads over his Republican rival.
Time will tell if Cunningham’s sexting scandal will affect future polling and the outcome.
Thom Tillis, Republican incumbent announced Friday he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Tillis wrote “Tonight my COVID-19 test came back positive. I’m following the recommendations of my doctor. Thankfully, I have no symptoms and feel well. COVID is a very contagious virus. If you were exposed or start to display symptoms, please call your doctor, self-isolate, and get tested.”
