First Signs Of Stubble Burning Appear Around Amritsar, Air Quality To Worsen In North India

The haze over northern India from October to December is not a new phenomenon. Stubble burning, majorly in Punjab and Haryana, and to a lesser extent in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, cover the sky with thick black smog.

This time, though people already have their masks handy due to Covid-19, health experts fear stubble burning, leading to respiratory issues, could aggravate the pandemic situation. In fact, early stubble burning in Punjab has raised eyebrows within administrative circles.
