On Monday, President Donald Trump announced that his list of Supreme Court nominees to fill the seat held by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been whittled down to five people, and he promised to announce his pick by Friday or Saturday.
Throughout an exclusive interview on “Fox & Friends,” the president mentioned that the final Senate vote for his potential nominee should be taken “before the election” and “should go very quickly.”
Justice Ginsburg, 87, died on Friday, due to issues surrounding metastatic pancreatic cancer, and her death immediately sparked a massive political battle that will lead right into the elections in November.
“The bottom line is we won the election, we have an obligation to do what’s right and act as quickly as possible,” Trump said.
The president said that he’ll make an announcement at the end of the week, following services for the late Supreme Court justice.
Meanwhile, the country will probably be racked with more riots because the Left are nuts. They’re already harassing the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Chairman Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) at his home by flashing strobe lights in the windows at night and banging what sounds like pots and pans. In essence, they’re trying to frighten the family and keep them awake. That doesn’t fall under a “peaceful protest,” and they should all be arrested.
“I think it will be on Friday or Saturday and we want to pay respect, it looks like we will have services on Thursday or Friday, as I understand it, and I think we should, with all due respect for Justice Ginsburg, wait for services to be over,” the president said.
Don’t be surprised if Democrats take the president’s words literally and keep the services going until November 3rd.
The president’s shortlist is alleged to include Judge Amy Coney Barrett from the US 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Barbara Logoa hails from the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and Judge Allison Jones Rushing of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.
The president lauded his list of potential picks, calling them “excellent,” and “all very smart.”
“No matter how you would look at it, these are the finest people in the nation—young people, pretty young for the most part,” the president said. He was more-than-likely referring to the fact that if confirmed by the Senate the nominee would serve on the High Court for many decades.
The ages of Barrett, Lagoa and Rushing are between 38 and 52.
“These are the smartest people, the smartest young people, you like to go young, because they’re there for a long time,” Trump said, adding that his nominee would “abide by the Constitution,” be a “good person” and have “very, very high moral values.”
The president said he thinks “the final vote should be taken, frankly, before the election.”
And why not? Back in 2016 even Justice Ginsburg said, “There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the president stops being the president in his last year.”
Only hours after Ginsburg’s death was announced on Friday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), vowed that a Trump nominee to the Supreme Court to fill her vacancy “will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.”
McConnell’s comments ignited a political firestorm, even prompting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to say she wouldn’t rule out another impeachment to block a Trump nominee. Folks, that is tyranny, and it is indicative of the kind of governing you can expect if the Democrats keep the House, take over the Senate, and God forbid Biden wins the White House. Pelosi just threatened to use impeachment against a sitting president who wants to execute an Article II power. The Democrats have gone rogue. They are Aconstitutional. They do not believe in the Constitution anymore.
“I heard if I nominate, they’re going to impeach me, so they’re impeaching me for what constitutionally I have to do,” Trump said. “If they do that, we win all elections.”
He added: “If they do it, I think my numbers will go up, I think we’ll win the entire election, I think we’re going to win back the House, I think we’re going to win the House anyway.”
The president went on to say that “losing an election has consequences.” Democrats don’t like having to live the consequences of elections. They’re adults who act like spoiled children who throw temper tantrums when they don’t get their way. Pelosi’s threat is proof positive.
“That means the other side gets to pick Supreme Court justices, judges, it’s a big deal,” he said. “It sets the tone. I’m very lucky because rarely does a president have this opportunity.” The Democrats will say that Trump said Ginsburg dying was lucky, even though that’s not what he said, mark my words.
He added: “Here I am in one term, I get to pick three.” He’s right, because his picks will shape the court for a long time, and since he’s so far nominated justices who respect the Constitution, we may get a Supreme Court back that upholds Constitutional law.
Trump recognized that “no matter who” he picks as his nominee, “no matter how brilliant,” the Democrats “will say this is terrible.” And he’s right. At this point, I think if he nominated Merrick Garland the Democrats would throw a fit, because it was Trump who nominated him.
“No matter how great this person is, they will not like the person,” Trump said.
In the meantime, Trump mentioned Republicans have “a tremendous amount of time” to confirm a new Supreme Court justice before Election Day.
“I think it would be good for the Republican Party and good for everyone,” he said.
