The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested 9 Al-Qaeda terrorists from multiple locations across West Bengal and Kerala after conducting raids in the two states.NIA has busted Al-Qaeda modules in Murshidabad of West Bengal and Ernakulam in Kerala and arrested 9 terrorists from the two states. Among the 9 Al-Qaeda terrorists, 3 have been arrested from Ernakulam and 6 have been arrested from Murshidabad.
In its statements, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has stated that the module was busted at a time when it was actively collecting funds for procuring sophisticated arms and ammunition. The terrorists were about to finalise the deal and receipt of a major arms consignment from Delhi, the NIA added.
Meanwhile, a political blame game has erupted in West Bengal with opposition BJP and Congress alleging that intelligence failure and appeasement politics of the Mamata Banerjee government have led to such a pass.
