Why Canada wants to reach 100 million citizens by 2100

Canada was once predicted to reach 100 million citizens by the 1970s. Although we’ve clearly missed that milestone, the Trudeau government has just announced a plan to reach 100 million by the year 2100.
The plan is aimed at solving two critical issues for Canadians, our rapidly aging population and Canada’s extremely low birth rates. But a mass influx of new citizens may not solve every issue and could even exacerbate the Canadian housing crisis or rekindle the Quebec separatist movement.
