Oregon Governor Declares State of Emergency Amid “Unprecedented” Fire Event – Zone News 24

Oregon Governor Kate Brown has declared a state of emergency as multiple fires rage throughout the state in what is being called an “unprecedented” event.

Brown tweeted “Listen up: We’re in an unprecedented fire event. Several significant, growing fires across the state continue to spread due to hot, dry weather & high winds. Oregonians’ lives are at risk. Follow evacuation orders, try to reduce your smoke exposure – and take care of each other.”

She later added “Wind continues to fuel the wildfires, with devastating consequences across Oregon. People’s homes, lives & land are at risk. If you are in an evacuation area, please pay close attention & listen to local calls to evacuate — this can save your life & the lives of our firefighters.”

“In addition to the emergency conflagration declarations I issued earlier today for the Beachie Creek, Lionshead, & Holiday Farm fires, I just issued another for the Alameda Fire in Jackson County, where homes & structures were under level 3 mandatory evacuation orders.”
