“Warbirds” Arrive in Pearl Harbor for World War II Commemoration

Vintage military aircraft, known as the “Warbirds,” arrived, Tuesday, August 11, aboard the USS Essex for the 75th Commemoration of the end of WWII in Pearl Harbor in the last weekend of August.

The Warbirds will be featured in three Legacy of Peace Aerial Parades on the deck of the Battleship Missouri Memorial.

The commemoration in Hawaii is in recognition of the veterans and civilians who contributed to the end of the war.

August 15 marks the 75th anniversary of Japan’s surrender. (AP)
