Cruz: We Can’t Just Keep Shoveling Money At Coronavirus, We’re Going Broke, We Don’t Got It

SEN. TED CRUZ: I stood up at lunch today and I said to my Republican colleagues, I said, ‘What in the hell are we doing?’ We can’t just keep shoveling cash at this thing. We’re going broke. We’re bankrupting our country. And the answer can’t be trillions and trillions of more money that we keep printing or we keep borrowing from China. We don’t got it. What we need to be doing is not another relief bill. We did that in March, in the middle of an emergency, in the middle of a crisis. We need a recovery bill. We need to be pulling back taxes and job-killing regulations, help small businesses reopen and create jobs.

If we get in a spending war with the Democrats, who can be the biggest Santa Claus, we’ll always be outbid. If we spend a trillion, they’ll spend two. If we spend three, they’ll spend four. That’s not the answer.
