Harvard recently announced that all classes will be held remotely. Also, Harvard is still charging the full $50,000+ a year in tuition. For some reason, that little factoid seems relevant here.
Look, at the end of the day colleges are going to have to adapt or die. Yes, for some jobs, you absolutely need multiple degrees: doctors, lawyers, etc. For the rest of us, the internet has leveled the playing field to where you can learn what you want when you want to and do it for relatively next to nothing. More people are creating companies without a college degree. Those people are going to hire people without a degree. Because — wait for it — you don’t need a college degree to prove you know how to do things. You just have to show you know how to do them and will be a valuable employee.
If you want to go into twenty years of debt for a bachelor’s in the liberal arts, that’s on you.
