Baby boy saved from floods in southeast China’s Fujian Province

Rescue workers saved a seven-day-old baby and his mother after they were caught in a flood in Wuyishan City in southeast China’s Fujian Province on Thursday. The baby boy’s constant crying alerted rescue workers as they passed by a wood processing factory. A downpour hit the city of Wuyishan in the morning of July 9, causing flooding and trapping residents inside their homes. The fire department in nearby Fuzhou City sent 160 firefighters, 12 boats and 23 trucks to assist in the rescue effort. As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 171 trapped residents had been saved and 523 residents had been evacuated to safe places. #floods #China
