Seagulls, Pelicans Take Over Peruvian Beach, Amid Coronavirus Lockdown

CORONAVIRUS:

Ten days after a state of emergency was declared in Peru, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the usually crowded beaches of Lima have been taken over by Peruvian gulls and pelicans. Peru has reported 416 COVID-19 infections, and 7 deaths, so far.

In a rare sight, thousands of Belcher’s Gulls and pelicans swarmed the beaches, since they were closed to the public.

Peruvian biologist Patricia Majluf said "giving nature a break" was one of the few positive impacts the pandemic was having.
