Reporter blasts man who slapped her rear on live TV

A reporter covering the start of the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run was horrified when a competitor suddenly smacked her rear end as he ran past.

“To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: You violated, objectified, and embarrassed me,” said Alex Bozarjian of WSAV in Savannah, Georgia. “No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere!! Do better.”

Video of the live broadcast showed a shocked Bozarjian after being struck by a stranger on the bridge as she quickly looked around to see if she could spot her assailant.

After posting her outrage to social media, many came to her defense and called for the individual to be identified and punished. “You handled it with grace, my friend. This is not acceptable and the community has your back,” said Emma Hamilton of WJCL.

Robert Wells of the Savannah Sports Council, which heads up the annual race, vowed to track down the handsy runner and take action. “Alex, what happened today is 100 per cent unacceptable,” he said. “You have my assurance we will identify him. This will not be tolerated at our events. Glad we have race bibs and photos for easy identification.” The SAV Sports Council also indicated that measures have already been taken to identify the man.

“We are deeply sorry for what happened to Alex today,” they said in a tweet. “Please know that we have already taken steps to identify the individual. Behavior like this will not be tolerated.”
