Republican disrupt impeachment inquiry, delaying testimony

Republicans disrupted a closed-door deposition with a Defense Department official. She was scheduled to answer questions as part of the House impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. The Republicans decried that the deposition was happening behind closed doors and said Americans should be able to read the transcripts of any interviews being conducted as part of impeachment. The interrupted testimony was from Laura Cooper, a senior official who oversees Ukraine policy. Earlier this week a U.S. diplomat testified that he had been told by another official that the U.S. ambassador to Europe demanded a Ukrainian investigation into the former vice president’s son. This was allegedly in exchange for military aid to Ukraine.
