Indonesia’s Female Speed Climber Sets New World Record

Aries Susanti Rahayu from Indonesia set a new world record at the International Federation of Sport Climbing’s Speed World Cup, held this year in Xiamen, China, on Sunday, October 20.

Susanti Rahayu reached the top of the 15-meter-high course in 6.995 seconds, becoming the first woman ever to break the seven second barrier.

She beat previous record holder YiLing Song of China in the women’s final. (REUTERS)
