said it’s reached tentative agreements with a union representing about 20,000 workers in nine states in the Southeast. The five-year agreements collectively cover about 20,000 employees in the Communications Workers of America District 3, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The agreements will be submitted to the union’s membership for ratification votes in coming days, AT&T said. The CWA said the four-day strike it held was the largest private sector strike in the South in a decade.
