Greta Thunberg arrives at New York after two week sailing journey across the Atlantic

The teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg sailed into New York on Wednesday in a zero-carbon emissions sailing boat, completing her 14-day voyage from Britain to take part in a United Nations climate summit. ‘It was a bit rough sometimes but it went incredibly well, and I didn’t feel seasick, so I was extremely lucky’, Thunberg told reporters gathered on the New York harbour. The 16-year-old Swedish student, who set sail from Plymouth on England’s south coast on 14 August, was greeted by cheers, chants and singing as the silver yacht, Malitzia II, cruised past the Statue of Liberty through choppy waves and rain to drop moor up in Manhattan’s yacht harbour.
