Dan Crenshaw Teaches AOC a Lesson About the Electoral College

2 min read

It was fun while it lasted, but Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has ended her brief Twitter silence by parroting a talking point of losers: the electoral college is bad. The electoral college isn’t always bad, mind you. It’s only bad when Democrats lose. We’ll get to that later. For now, he’s Dan Crenshaw schooling AOC on how American politics work:

The electoral college has elected Democrats as well as Republicans. I don’t remember Democrats crowing about abolishing the electoral college when Democrats secured victory. Do you?

As Crenshaw points out, the electoral college serves a purpose. Other than raising the hackles of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez who apparently can’t use the Google machine. Without the electoral college, New York and California, specifically New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles would control who becomes president. I’m being simplistic here on purpose, but since big cities have huge populations, it’s not much of a stretch. Los Angeles shouldn’t decide the leadership of the entire country.

Furthermore, America isn’t a democracy. We’re a constitutional representative republic. A republic protects the minority from the majority. A democracy ensures the mob will rule.
