Shares of clothing and accessory retailer Buckle Inc.
jumped 7.6% in Friday premarket trading after it reported second-quarter earnings and sales that beat consensus. Net income totaled $16.4 million, or 34 cents per share, up from $15.7 million, or 32 cents per share, last year. Sales were $203.8 million, up from $201.1 million in 2018, with online sales rising 9.2% to $23.1 million. The FactSet consensus was for EPS of 30 cents and sales of $204 million. Same-store sales rose 1.8%; FactSet expected a 0.5% same-store sales decline. Buckle stock has taken a 33% tumble over the past year while the S&P 500 index
has gained 2.3%.
